The consumption of cannabis has been around thousands of years. However, for most of its history, the main methods for smoking the herb consisted of rolling a joint or packing a bowl. As time went on and the industry began to grow, eventually edibles came along. Edibles are a very strong product but are usually taken while still smoking flower. It wasn’t until the creation of concentrates that we began to see people use dabbing as their main method of smoking cannabis. For those who dab concentrates consistently, you know that there is a right and wrong way to do things. That is why we are in dire need of something consumers can follow. I present to you the Marijuana Dab Bible, otherwise known as the Dabible.
Commandment 1: Thou shalt always be fully prepared with all necessary dab tools.
It is the responsibility of the dabber to have one of three available smoking methods; a dab rig, nectar collector, or a vape pen. The dabber must also have a dab tool, carb cap, torch, and butane. Without these tools, dabbing becomes inefficient and more work.
Commandment 2: Thou shalt always bring their own dabs to offer.
A true dabber will always have a gram on him. Having a gram at all times will ensure that there is nobody getting taken advantage of. This also ensures that if one smoker is out of dabs, you will come in clutch and save the day. Plus, the more dabs available, the merrier.
Commandment 3: Thou will always offer the first dab to the host.
As a guest, many people believe it is up to the host to offer the first dab. A good friend will always offer the first dab, so be the good friend. As the host, they have the responsibility of having all dab tools ready for use. Nobody likes providing all the tools and setting things up just to wait to take a dab.
Commandment 4: Thou shalt not skimp on the size of the dab.
When sharing dabs, it is important to not be stingy. Even though there are some beginners who prefer small dabs, make sure it is never too small. In fact, a true friend will try to give you too big of a dab. So, for all of the pro dabbers, remember to never skimp on the dab. Sharing is caring; show that you care.
Commandment 5: Thou will ensure that no dab is left behind.
It is very important that every dab taken is not wasted. To do so, make sure that a carb cap is used to get the full hit. Also, never let a cough stop you. As a true dabber, you must be able to clear the entire dab. A dabber should be able to get a majority of the hit in one rip and finish the rest on the second rip.
Commandment 6: Thou shalt always have a water available.
There are times that a dab just gets the best of you. It is important to have a drink ready. If you are dabbing correctly, then you will want some water. Dabbing can also raise your body temperature, which is why water is a necessity
Commandment 7: Thou will always have respect for others’ rigs.
If you are at a buddy’s house, it is important to use their dab rig in the way they would like. Meaning there is no reason to pick it up or move the rig, unless totally necessary. This ensures that there will be no accidents taking place. It also takes the responsibility out of the guest’s hands. This limits the chances of something ruining your smoke session.
Commandment 8: Thou will always repay for any accidents made.
Smoking dabs can be a process and there are a few things that can go wrong. It is important to own up to any accidents that you make. If you happen to break the rig or torch, then you must make up for it. If you drop a few dabs, then make sure to give more dabs. In a basic sense, treat other smokers the way you would want to be treated.
Commandment 9: Thou shalt always pay favors forward.
Smoking cannabis is a very social, relaxed, and uniting activity. You meet people you would have never talked to by smoking cannabis. However, when you meet new people, do not worry about matching each other. Instead, pay a few dabs forward. Meaning always put good vibes forward. Smoking cannabis is not about being even or saving money. It’s about relaxing and enjoying yourselves and even connecting with all people.
Commandment 10: Thou will never let taking a dab be unsocial.
The final commandment is the most important. In today’s society, smoking cannabis is not just rolling up a joint and passing it around. A lot of consumers are turning to simply dabbing concentrates. Just taking individual dabs can easily take the social aspect of smoking completely out of the picture. That is why it is very important that we respect the traditional heritage of smoking a doobie, and bring those same principles into taking a dab. Smoking cannabis is about enjoying and sharing with others. Cannabis is a social rock star, and it is up to us to keep that going.
