Overview of Cannatonic
It is a hybrid that contains an even 50/50 split of sativa and indica. THC levels are low, usually at about 7%, but can get as high as 15% THC in some phenotypes.
The CBD potency of up to 17%, with a low of between 4-6%, is clearly what sets Cannatonic apart from other strains and make it one of the premier brands of cannabis.
Potential Positive Effects
It is a short, mellow high that allows the user to stay focused on their work or other daily activities. Cannatonic adds a slight uplifting cerebral effect to its heavy CBD effects.
It is much more so a body high than a psychoactive high, providing a heavily relaxing feeling without dramatic mind-altering effects.
Potential Negative Effects
Dry mouth is one of the most likely potential negative effects of Cannatonic. Anxiety and paranoia are much less probable in Cannatonic than other cannabis strains.
Lineage of Cannatonic
Resin Seeds, a cultivator based in Spain, created Cannatonic in 2008. As one of the first flowers bred with a 1:1 or better ratio of CBD to THC, the breeders at Resin Seeds call Cannatonic their 'CBD Queen' and claim that it was at the forefront of the CBD revolution. Resin Seeds lists Cannatonic as a cross-breed of Reina Madre (Queen Mother) and NYC Diesel, two sativa dominant hybrids.
Many believe, however, the true parents are actually the MK Ultra (indica) and the G-13 Haze (indica-dominant).
Growing Cannatonic
Buds of Cannatonic are characterized by lightly browned pistils and frosty trichomes. Its aroma is earthy and the flavors contain hints of lemon and citrus that goes along with a slightly woody taste. Cannatonic grows like an indica and can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors.
Indoor grows have a flowering period of about nine to ten weeks and produce about 500 grams per square meter. Outdoor grows are typically harvested in October and produce between 250 and 400 grams per plant.
It is encouraged to check plants regularly for mold and mildew, as these issues could occasionally arise in the Cannatonic plant if not watched carefully.
Where to find Cannatonic
Cannatonic is most popular in Washington, California, and Michigan. It can also be regularly found in Oregon and British Columbia, Canada. Its breeder, Resin Seeds, calls it 'the single most effective medicinal cannabis strain available today,' claiming Cannatonic 'has never failed to help.'
